ACCIDENTALLY HIP: GERSH, WIND, AND FIRE
Saturday, September 26 @ 7:30 PM

Gersh, Wind, and Fire celebrates the genius of George Gershwin on his 122nd birthday. Accidentally Hip is a perfect pairing for the twists and turns that we are navigating these days, as they like to put their own twists and turns on everything from early swing and jazz standards to R&B, Hip Hop, and current pop tunes. Led by award winning arranger and composer R. MacKenzie Lewis, this versatile and flexible ensemble will apply their unique stylings and distinct twists on such Gershwin favorites as Rhapsody in Blue, I’ve Got Rhythm, Summertime, Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off, Fascinating Rhythm, Embraceable You, piano preludes, Porgy and Bess, and more!
Raise a glass to the birthday boy with singer Courtney Riddle as she takes you through an evening to honor the brilliant composer who went from Tin-Pan Alley, to Broadway, to showing the world that you could bring jazz into the concert hall. Ann Arbor’s own Kerrytown Concert House will be groovin’ and jivin’ all night with the swingin’ talents of David G. Maki, II on tenor sax, Michael Rais on bass, and Billy Harrington on drums.
