The challenges of musical exploration and analysis through the lens of Beethoven's Sonata Pathétique

Thursday, January 14 @ 5:30 PM EST

Originally scheduled for January 7

Louis Lessons features highly-acclaimed pianist and engaging raconteur, Louis Nagel, combining his exquisite playing with his extensive musical insight and humor – this month, to the tune of Beethoven!

Louis was recently asked, “Why bother to analyze a piece when one can just follow all of the instructions and play all the notes?” In What’s in a Sonata? Louis will use Beethoven’s Sonata Pathéthique (Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13) as a springboard to point out the challenges of playing any piece, particularly through one whose familiarity breeds such content!
