Michael Malis – Searching For the Center: Solo Piano Explorations
Michael Malis – Searching For the Center: Solo Piano Explorations
Noted for his “jaw dropping display of improvisational power” (All About Jazz), pianist and composer Michael Malis appears at KCH in a rare solo recital. He’ll present original compositions, which range from the spacious and lush to the unpredictable and raucous. Still, he stays conversant with his musical ancestors, drawing on repertoire from composers such as Sun Ra, Thelonious Monk, Alice Coltrane, and others, to create a rich and diverse program that looks forward, backward, and center.
