Event Details

Trio – an evening of songwriters-in-the-round with acclaimed Michigan artists Josh Rose, Judy Banker and Ed Dupas.

Josh Rose

“Josh Rose’s songs come wrapped in brown paper with an old twine ribbon. These songs come from the soul and etch themselves into your fabric.”

A songwriter’s songwriter, Josh Rose, grew up in the northern woodlands and fine tuned his songwriting in the borderlands. He has spent the past ten years touring the midwest, teaching, writing, and building a rich body of highly respected work. Josh is the type of writer who labors over every word, creating songs that get injected into the listener's permanent being. After his two previous studio albums, Firework Letdown and Slow Bloom, Josh is more than pleased to bring you his latest work, Old Laminate, featuring 12 well-crafted poignant songs that forge much, much deeper than the saccharine fare that completely dominates the automatic, entitled-consumer, popular music world of our day. This music is much like a memorable meal: mood-evoking, fresh, and necessary. josh-rose.com

Judy Banker

“Judy Banker is emerging as a premier songwriter with universal appeal. A singular unique talent and stage presence, her music is organic and soul-driven.” - Michael G. Nastos, Pulp Magazine Online, 88.3 WCBN-FM Ann Arbor

“A monster singer/songwriter talent.” - John Bayerl, SeMiBluegrass.com

Rooted in 60’s folk and vintage country, Ann Arbor songwriter, singer, and acoustic guitarist Judy Banker explores familiar musical territory and delicately makes it her own. With a voice WXOU’s “The Old Front Porch Radio Show” host Maggie Ferguson describes as “tangy and bright as fall cider”, Judy takes cues from artists like Loretta Lynn to Gillian Welch, with intensely personal songwriting, sharing warm love songs, lamentations, and narratives reflecting on universal themes drawn from her own deep and rich life experiences. Though new to recording, with 2014’s debut Without You and 2016’s Devils Never Cry, Judy has long been a part of the Ann Arbor music scene. judybanker.com

Ed Dupas

“Ed Dupas….(is) a worthy addition to those troubadours of truth and decay whose songs both resonate and reward.” - Lonesome Highway

“…Straightforward blue-collar Country-Folk songs that could or should have come from the pens of Springsteen, Kristofferson or more recently Sturgill Simpson... “ - No Depression

Americana singer-songwriter Ed Dupas’ lived-in melodies unwind with reflective lyrics and speak to the current state of the human condition, soothing where possible, agitating where necessary, and seeking change where appropriate. Crafted from the heart, Ed’s music flows from an array of broad social themes to more personal narratives of love and loss. Rooted in both realism and idealism, Ed's musical goal is deeper inquiry and exploration for himself and his listeners. With comparisons ranging from Steve Earle to Bruce Springsteen, Ed creates and shares well worn wide awake music. Critics are already heaping on praise for Ed’s recently released his sophomore album, Tennessee Night. eddupas.com
