Kimiko Ishizaka
Pianist Kimiko Ishizaka was raised in a family of musical children by her German mother and Japanese father. The first decades of her career were spent as part of the acclaimed Ishizaka Trio, with her brothers Kiyondo, violin, and Danjulo, cello. The trio played hundreds of concerts around the world, made commercial recordings with the Rubato, Primavera, and Ars Musica labels, and won top prizes at competitions, including:
-First Prize in the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb (German Music Competition)
-Three consecutive first prizes in the International Charles Hennen Competition in the Netherlands
-The Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition in Italy
As a soloist, Kimiko most recently lent her name - and remarkable pianistic skills - to the "Open Goldberg Variations" project. Funded exclusively by fans and music lovers, the "Open Goldberg" adventure will culminate in Kimiko's recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations with a top-level, international production team at Berlin's renowned Teldex Studios in early 2012. The album will be the first and only complete, professional recording of J.S Bach's monumental Goldberg Variations released directly to the public domain. It will be found, freely available, at Kimiko's official website:

Away from the studio, Kimiko's live performances of the Goldberg Variations in Europe and America have garnered effusive praise, including the following from the Bonner Rundschau, in 2011:
"The clearly contoured yet richly contrasted musical structures unwound expressively in the intimately introspected slower variations, alongside the faster passages"
"A truly extraordinary, top-class piano evening!"
